the Gaslight Anthem

281 posts in this topic

cloud nothings are all right, but they kind of fit into this insincere wave of lofi faux-punk that is "hip." joyce manor, especially their newer record is kinda similar to me, but they're clearly sincere.

and i don't think having toured with them before will stop gaslight from touring with them again. if anything, it may help their shots as long as they got along.

looking at the menzingers tour schedule, menzingers aren't really available until september. (though that could make sense for gaslight.)

menzingers just seem like they would be SOOOOO perfect.

idk if brian fux wit them, but river city extension would be a cool fit.

I've never seen Cloud Nothing's so I couldn't tell you. Usually I'd agree with you about helping their chances but gaslight has been pretty good about touring the US with different bands. I'd think Gaslight will do their first US tour before September but that doesn't mean they won't do two for this record. It is a major label release and all. And, by that point, The Menzingers could be on a level to play right before them which would be incredible.

i don't think the menzingers will be level with them on epitaph, especially as epitaph seems to mostly promote swooshhaircore now. off with their heads didn't really get much push from them. (but then, OWTH isn't really as good) i could see them getting big though and moving on. i just don't know if i could imagine the menzingers wanting to be gaslight big haha.

its always so sad to me that it is weird for me to see epitaph records sign a band like off with their heads or the menzingers, but it has become a normal practice for rise records to sign bands like bouncing souls, cheap girls and hot water music... its like they're going in opposite directions.

I dont like this song at all. It is almost too generic for a band that thrives on generics. The lyrics suck and the chorus is beyond mediocre. Not feeling the production either.

yeah, he's been awesome live...although I'd say that acoustic performance wasn't the best.

The videos from Bonnaroo are awesome.

this new song they've been playing for over a year and is going to be on the new record they KILL on

http://youtu.be/iWIDEDpszNA

I'm sure there are videos that aren't that great, but that would go for a lot of bands

I wouldn't say that they're the best live band, but they're a LOT better live than on record.

They might be one of the more fun bands to see live because they clearly have so much joy in what they're doing and that's mainly because of Brian Fallon smiling almost the whole way through their shit. It's refreshing.

pretty solid Brian Fallon interview

http://www.absolutepunk.net/showthread.php?t=2748392

"Here Comes My Man" is being talked as THE biggest song on the record both here and in ROLLING STONE.

Interesting to hear him mention that Lady Gaga's "Marry the Night" helped inspire the song.

besides what is on the record, there will be 2 originals and 2 covers

the covers (1 Tom Petty Song...and Nirvana's "Sliver"

more comments on the Tom Gabel/Laura Grace situation

Looks like it IS HWM. (And in some cases, Rise Against as a headliner...) Sucks, because Rise Against has transformed into buttrock. Luckily it doesn't appear the EC will get that.

yeah I don't care if Rise Against is the headliner because I'll just bounce.

that's getting your money's worth with HWM and Gaslight anyway.

I figured Gaslight would tour with HWM.

I'm just disappointed Thrice isn't the 3rd band

First time I saw TGA was on that Rise Against tour with them, Thrice and the Alkaline Trio. Rise Against was a passable nostalgia act, the rest were great.

Hoping for real, good headliners on the East Coast. Rise Against has been fucking me over seeing bands I wanna see for a while. Bad Religion, the Menzingers... BUTTROX.

Getting tickets for the NJ house of blues show, flipping them for a higher value and then buying your boston tickets with that money isn't the worst idea in the world. Sucks but do what you gotta do.

Any idea when tickets for the Toronto show go on sale? There is nothing on ticketmaster yet. I really don't want to miss them this time around.

Brian Fallon won a bet off the drummer to slip in a Linkin Park lyric during a song

"I'm one step closer to the edge and I'm about to break"

I guess it's on Youtube somewhere where he threw that lyric in
